Preparing for Class

We want you to have the best possible experience on the range. A little preparation goes a long way — the more organized you are going in, the more you’ll get out of the day.

If you have any questions before class, reach out at dan@prtg.co or (443) 774-4668.

Important: What NOT to Bring

Firearms

Do not bring a Sig Sauer P320. There are currently documented safety concerns with uncommanded discharges. If this is your only firearm, contact us before class — we can provide one for use during the day.

Holsters

What to Bring

Your Firearm & Ammunition

  • Firearm — UNLOADED and in a case
  • Three (3) unloaded magazines (two will work if that’s all you have)
  • Approximately 400 rounds of quality factory ammunition in the correct caliber for your firearm

Holster & Belt

  • Made specifically for your firearm — full Kydex or firm leather construction
  • Fully encloses the trigger guard
  • Adjustable retention
  • OWB (Outside the Waistband) or IWB (Inside the Waistband) are both acceptable — if you’re new to holster draw, start with OWB
  • Bring a magazine pouch as well

Eye & Ear Protection

  • Safety glasses or shooting glasses (ballistic-rated preferred)
  • Hearing protection — foam earplugs, passive muffs, or electronic muffs (electronic strongly recommended)

Clothing & Comfort

  • Closed-toe shoes (required)
  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing
  • Hat with a brim (helps keep brass out of your face)
  • High-neckline shirt (reduces hot brass contact)

Hydration & Snacks

  • Water — at least 32 oz, more in warm weather
  • Snacks or a meal depending on class length

Medical

  • Any personal medications you may need during the day
  • If you carry a personal IFAK, bring it — not required but always welcome

Other Items

  • Small notebook and pen (optional but useful)
  • Range bag to carry your gear
